Microfilters / Splitters
What is a microfilter?
If you want an ADSL internet connection, the signal from your BT phone line will have to be split two ways – towards the phone and the computer. This is where a microfilter comes in.
A microfilter is a small plastic box which plugs into your phone socket. You’ll need to plug your phone and your high speed modem into this box, and then you’re ready to connect to the internet.
Do I need one?
You’ll need to buy a microfilter if you’re getting a broadband internet connection. You can normally buy one directly from your ISP, but these are often the more expensive option. Search online for a cheap alternative.
How many do I need?
It depends how many phone lines you are connecting to the internet. You’ll need one microfilter for every phone socket.
